My trunk latch striker broke last weekend.
I could see it was previously repaired.
Ordered up a new one and found I couldn't get the screws back in.
Made a template of where the holes were on the original and needed to file the mounting holes a little larger to get everything back together.
Still getting used to having parts that dont fit without a bit of tweaking.

Ready to participate in a July 4th parade with an exotic car club today, but the event was canceled due to a terrible mass shooting at a neighboring suburb (as was all shows in the area).
We did hook up with a photographer who got some really cool shots afterwards

In process of complete rebuild. I've had my series 1 since 1977. Was flooded about 30 years ago. Finally retired and don't plan to die with money in the bank, so
restoring car.
Its a series 1 with a series 3 engine and a overdrive tranny. The color is currently Black (paint code 1). I plan to repaint with the paint code 11 (thistle grey).
Here is an old photo from happier days.

We fixed an oil leak at the transmission drain plug and speedo cable. Refilled gearbox with 30W and did Our first excursion in Our completely restored Alpine #627. What a thrill! I have been waiting to take a drive in an Alpine since i first acquired a '61 back in '77. It was never completed but remained a motivating memory to one day start what i did not finish, and see it to completion. Today I am indescribably elated for lack of a better description. Today was My wife's first ever trip in a convertible and She Loves it! I remember when i failed grade 9 autoshop and My teacher told Me Automotive was not in My future. Funny, I worked in GM for 31 years before retiring! Restored a 63 year old car, and now looking to do another. When I say I am Living The Dream, I mean it. Now for them car shows....

Thank You for Your interest in My story Dan. We were out and about all day yesterday until we blew out a slave cylinder 25 miles from home. In one of My stoniest moves ever, i got it home and in the garage through multiple towns along the trip home. So since I havent stopped on this car since April 1, it will wait a few days to be repaired. Extremely impressed with the new weber carb and manifold I put on it. What a pleasure to drive Topless.(the car) LOL. 2 months until snow here, so I am 4 months behind on exterior house maintenance. Retired since 2015,I have been busier than when I was working. My Thanks go to All who have owned this car and kept it rollin. Maurice Tebo,Ron Tebo, and Luke Pambrun, whom I purchased it from last fall. Have a Great weekend Dan, Cheers, Dave.

Went to the Classic Car Show at the old Meadowdale race track on Saturday. It was a beautiful day for a drive and for a car show. Next day it rained 5 inches, which pretty much washed out the British Car Festival at Harper college.
