I am a new member and have only recently purchased my Sunbeam Talbot - which I love. I really need an Owners Handbook - I have the full Workshop Manual for repairs but it is too technical for me. If anyone can tell me where I can obtain an Owners Handbook I will be very grateful- I have already looked online but its only available for other Sunbeam Talbot Models. Thank You - Tracker 5

I have created a blog to document Alphie's (my 1964 Sunbeam Alpine) return to the road. In case you're curious, "Bonehead Wrenching" is my restoration service: we have one employee (me) and we work on one restoration at a time (mine)! Bonehead Wrenching also sponsors my autocross shenanigans. visit: https://boneheadwrenching.blogspot.com

Well... it's been a while. In all fairness, not much has happened lately. But we got the title! So in the last post, I talked about the 'Vermont Loophole' and the fact that it didn't work, and that our next option would be to attempt to track down the original owner who wrecked the car back in '74. After some Facebook stalking and vin-plate-running, we finally found the guy and talked with him on the phone (now that I'm typing this I think I already said this in the last post) but he agreed to sign the title over to us. There was only one caveat. He no longer lives two hours...

50 years ago, against my best judgement, I sold a cherry little 1965 Series IV and want to get another. I don't want to do a full restoration, and just want a driver in reasonably good condition that I can tinker with and spend my remaining years tooling down Memory Lane. If you have - or know of - a clean, stock, fairly complete Alpine, I'd be grateful for a shout-out. All the best - Drive safely - Mark 657-489-3719

So we drug the car home. The car in question is a 1967 Sunbeam Alpine. No Engine. (There are some pictures on my profile, I'll upload more soon.) It was in a minor accident in 1974, and it was sold to a scrapper who put it in a shed never to touch it again. That scrapper was my my great grandmother's twin sister's grandson-in-law's father. (and what does that make us? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING) When his father passed away from cancer a few years back, he was in possession of like 400 cars. And this particular one was to be one of his retirement projects, along with a 69 mustang...

I do address the SBC problem that everyone is likely talking about at the end, calm down. There is one problem when it comes to buying cars that've been hidden away in a shed for 55 years, and that's title work. Remember how I said that my (for lack of a better term) great uncle's dad was a scrapper? Well it turns out that, sometime in between the car being wrecked in September of '74, and us dragging it out of the shed a month or so ago, the title. was. lost. We're not sure exactly when the title was lost, or by whom, but we know for sure that we do not have a title for the...

1967 Sunbeam Alpine ST SV Coloure Code 106 Commodore Blue One of my many Projects with doing a V6 Conversion. Now I am regularly involved in the Sunbeam Alpines I own. I love working on anything mechanical. As you read on through the experiences I have had with one of my Alpines you will perchance get the “bug” to obtain one of the different Alpine Series from SI to SV. I got the Bug to do a V6 Conversion to one of my Alpines. After getting I started it has become something of a full time thing making components, which I design and sell for others that are interested in...

Since I can remember I have been a car guy. When I got out of the Navy I got serious about building, and built a 1934 Ford pickup with Pontiac tri-power engine, chopped top, custom 2 x 4 box tubing frame that was barely drivable...safely. It would fly though if really pushed. I went though a Corvette powered 1940 Ford coupe, a 35 Ford pickup, a second 40 Ford coupe, a show winning 1932 Ford 5-window coupe, another 40 Ford coupe, a 65 mustang, and now my Alpine. Several other cars were in between those mentioned but the mentioned ones were special. When the National Street Rod Association was...

WizzzBANG Motors had a garage success today. The fancy little Talbot mirror on the driver's side could not be adjusted enough to get a decent view of what was approaching. The chief WizzzBANG technician decided to take it apart to see what was causing the issue. As soon as the tension screw was removed it fell apart revealing a mangled plastic insert ring that was supposed to let the outer shell holding the mirror swivel. All this was spring-loaded and held in place by the tension screw. The plastic insert was rejuvenated in some boiling water that the tech made for afternoon tea. As the...

Here’s a Sunbeam bedtime story you will want to tell your grandchildren. The fable starts like this... Once upon a time in the land across the river lived the fearless people of WizzzBANG. Some say ‘fearless’ didn’t quite describe their way of life; ‘clueless’ seemed to be the most common descriptor, but I’ll leave that determination up to you as you follow their amazing adventures. The clan was led by three cunning individuals Clevite, Testaclese, and Fuzznuttiest. Clevite had a mathematical mind. He could add two numbers together and make change at the local Wawa. Testaclese...

Now that I have a show quality Alpine again I was anxious t get back on the show circuit. The 1st show available in my area was in Greenville, SC. It was the Scottish Rite Festival at Furman University. I joined the Southeastern British Car Owners Association, sent my registration form to the Club and booked my weekend stay in Greenville. My wife, Linda, and I set out on our maiden voyage in the Alpine. It was a hot day and we stayed off I-26 for the first part of the trip. It was my shake-down drive to see what the car could and couldn't do. We made it to Columbia, SC with no issues,...

Following the mishap in Greenville and the long trip home in a rental car, I called the insurance company to report in. They assigned an adjuster to come to my home to appraise the damages and assist with locating a body shop to do the repairs. I met the appraiser a few days later. He was familiar with Sunbeams and knew what to look for during his inspection. He mentioned a few body shops he’s dealt with in the past but I had located a shop in town that was highly recommended with a very good reputation for honesty and quality work. About a week later the damage appraisal was...

I was looking at the Alpines for sale on the Sunbeam Experience website and saw an ad that had 3 elements I needed to pursue a purchase: 1) proximity; 2) condition, and 3) price. The car I saw was in Florida, the condition was very good and the price was on target. I called about the price since it was a BO deal. I wanted to know what the owner was hoping to get for the car and was anyone close. Turns out I called at the right time because there were no offers made and the owner was anxious to sell. He told me his bottom line and I told him I would be there in 2 days to see the car. With...
