I must respectfully disagree...all people who have Tigers have gone to
considerable time, expense and work to keep them running. Many have done minor
to major customization while retaining the spirit and integrity of a Tiger. These
cars deserve to be judged if the owner so choses. (I honestly do not say this
because of our modified Tiger). We have discussed in the past about limiting the
cars judged to save time. What has evolved and seems most fair is that owners
have the option of asking that their car not be judged and several actually do
this.

As I mentioned in last night's email, a large focus of Tigers United is the
awarding of the Lord Rootes trophy which is the culmination of the best overall
score of 5 events. Although the weighting of the points system is heavier for the
concours, it is not awarded to just the best stock Tiger. I think the point of
Lord Rootes is that your Tiger and the owner(s) are overall well versed in
driving and enjoying the car and it's history.

There are many concours events throughout the year all over the country where one
can compete with a Tiger. And it has been my experience that most of the time at
those events they generally favor stock cars of any make.

As us Tiger owners like to say "we are not the Ferrari club". I mean this
humorously and am not being sarcastic. We just want to have fun with each other
and our cars.

Those who have concrete and well thought out suggestions for major changes in the
way a Tigers United is held could submit them to both CAT and STOA and maybe a
committee could discuss it. But it is a considerable undertaking and there is
probably not enough time for next year's event to put it in place. Let us not
make it any more difficult for the people putting on the event than it already
is. Just a suggestion.

Well and tactfully put!!!
If there's concours, great. If there's autocross, great. If there's
Lord Rootes Trophy, great. For me that's all just icing on the cake.
For me the best part is getting together with a bunch of other Sunbeam
owners all at once (and knowing I'm not alone in my obsession) and
getting to look at a bunch of really neat cars! I love the ones that are
bone stock that someone spent untold hours getting everything "just
perfect" on and I love the ones that someone has spent just as many
untold hours customizing.
For myself, I don't care who wins what trophy--probably because I don't
expect to win anything. I just wanna see the cars! Lotsa cars!
Did I mention cars?
