Here is a link to a Porsche 912 that just sold for probably the highest
ever obtained for a 912, $34,000. 1969porsche912.com/
Now why am I posting this here? There is no doubt in my mind that no self
respecting Tiger owner, who will admit liking anything to do with
Porsches, is going to care for anything less than a 6 cylinder, and
probably a turbocharged one at that - but certainly not a four banger
based on the 356. No, I'm posting it because if you look at the fourth to
last picture, there appears to be a Tiger in the garage! Anyone here know
of either cars?
Jay

Jay,
At first I thought you were looking at a 914 parked backwards in the
garage. You know, at a distance, in the dark, the Tiger tail lights vertical
oval looking like the 914 turn signals. Anyway, I put the picture into
Photoshop lightened it and enlarger it. It does look like a Tiger (or
Alpine) except there seems to be a thin line of body trim under the words. I
also count 7 letters in the wording.
Sorry, don't know whose car it is, but it sure does look like a Sunbeam
Tiger or Alpine.

Wow, great sleuthing. On the line under the letters, when I look at the
picture unaltered, it just looks like a light reflection that runs across
the back, and even over to the fin. I also noticed the square mirror on
the windshield and the extra round Talbot? on the right. The reason I
though it might be a Tiger is mostly because its height relative to the
ground appears to make it look a bit lowered - more of a Tiger stance than
and Alpine stance. Other than that (unless that square convex mirror was
never on an Alpine), it does appear impossible to tell.

You guys had me curious so I took a look.
YES, it looks Tiger/Alpine to me.
I agree with Jay, it is just a very shiny Tiger/Alpine.
The square mirror would make it a MK1 (like mine) or a Series IV.
You can see it has the original steering wheel and horn ring too.
I don't see how you can see it looks lowered though...

Well, according to Whois, the website is owned by Scott Shulman of
Florida. I've sent him an e-mail. We'll see.
Maybe it doesn't look lowered to you as you are used to seeing Tigers not
Alpines! Yeah, I know they are supposed to be close to the same ride
height. But, with 300 more pounds up front causing more sagging of the
springs after 40 years, and more often than Alpines, lower profile tires,
it's my observation that they tend to sit a little lower. In that
picture, yes I can't see the whole thing. But, from the perspective with
the ground plain, it looks like it's lower to me. Probably just an
illusion.
