The Poll question should be; which valve cover is the ID sticker on, right
side or left side when sitting in the drivers seat looking forward at the
engine?
Since Tigers came in both LHD and RHD the question needs to be clear.
My Tiger is LHD and the engine ID sticker is on the Left valve cover, the
drivers side in this case.

I thinks these poll would be much better accomplished on a Forum that has a
Poll option.
TEAE has a forum that is very quiet and I am sure would like the traffic.

Mine (B382000217) is LHD and the ID tag is on the driver's side. The engine
number is 4983-F21KA and the block is black. There is some kind of
rectangular tag on the front end of the passenger side cover but there is
nothing on it. Must of faded away a long time ago.

I am the 3rd owner of a Tiger that came with a NON matching valve cover
tag.
The theory that it was swapped at a repair shop seems a bit of a long
shot.
How many other Tigers have miss matched valve cover tags?
BTW ...on the right side...

Can anyone point me to a photo of the small tag that is supposed to be on
the passenger side valve cover? I have the engine ID tag on the driver's
side and there is a small rectangular sticker toward the front of the cover
on the passenger side. But it is blank or faded away. It is just a silver
color that sort of matches the chrome valve cover.

You may be right; however.
1 The Poll questions have moved the list back to Tiger Related
information
2 The most appropriate place for the Poll would be Norm Miller's web
site; if Norm is willing.
3 Trivia can be Fun
4 I got just a few more responses than the TE/AE Poll; kind of sad.
More Trivia
Didn't you just get Bob Mannel's Book on SBF engines?
Appendix A - Engine Tags page A-6; the Ford application # on the aluminum
engine tag for the Tiger 260 engine is 510.
This # is not listed and Bob never ran across any information about that #;
I don't know what that # is for the Tiger 289.
I find these things interesting. Sorry if you do not. The delete key is
always available.

I thinks these poll would be much better accomplished on a Forum that has a
Poll option.
TEAE has a forum that is very quiet and I am sure would like the traffic.

Hardly a great picture but it was available online already. I'll try to get a better
shot sometime this weekend. It's an oval with the FORD logo.

I got to get a new camera. This is a pic of L valve cover on 382002560. It
reads (top L) Product of, Ford Oval, Motor Company(lower right). On this car
the ID tag is on right. Block is black. HTH

I am the 3rd owner of a Tiger that came with a NON matching valve cover
tag.
The theory that it was swapped at a repair shop seems a bit of a long
shot.
How many other Tigers have miss matched valve cover tags?
BTW ...on the right side...

Thanks for all of the replies (and photos)about my question regarding the
small Ford tag.
I'm getting a little confused about the placement of the two different tags
though. Some folks are saying the metalized tag with the engine number on
it should be on the driver's side valve cover toward the back, and others
are saying it should be toward the front on the passenger side. I'm
referring here to a LHD car.
I have a the Book of Norman and he says on page 143 that the "Rootes Ltd"
or "Sunbeam Ltd" tag with the engine number was affixed to the left rear
cover. The "Product of Ford Motor Company" decal is on the front right
cover. He goes on to say that "later cars used only the "Sunbeam Ltd" decal
which was positioned to the right front cover" and "Product of Ford Motor
Company decal on rear left cover".
So, at some point the positions of the two tags were reversed. Has someone
been keeping track of all of the replies to try and figure out when the
switch was made?
Thanks,
Joe Brown

Hi Joe,
Here is a picture of the label on a valve cover.
This is the original label for my car.
Also, on the list some are saying that the label is on the left bank toward
the rear. The covers can be placed on either side they are interchangable.
If the label cover is placed on the left bank the label will be toward the
firewall and appear to be correct. However, the stock position is on the
right bank with the label forward. I am surprised that most of these guys
don't realize their valve covers are switched. :0

Welcome to the little details that are Tiger and Sunbeam.
The response to the Poll is way to low; you would need everyone to
respond and then there would still be gaps for the wrecked Tigers that are
no longer available. Therefore the accuracy of when the change happened
would be in doubt.
In response to Ross Hulse about switching the valve covers;" I am surprised
that most of these guys don't realize their valve covers are switched. :0"
He is not correct when it comes to stock original Ford valve covers.
My left valve cover has a big breather tube at the front and the right valve
cover has a port at the rear for the PCV valve. Yes you can physically
switch the covers but the hose plumbing would be a real messy looking deal
and defiantly not stock.
Basically it is your car; do the details the way you like best. I guarantee
the Sunbeam community is more interested in seeing that Tiger on the road
then picking at the little details.
