Unfortunately I left it back somewhere on the road. I heard it hit the ground
but had no-idea at the time that it was part of my valve cover.

It may be worth a walk though to see if maybe it's still there...

Rob,
A good aluminum welder could patch the hole and buildup material,
especially if you have the chunk that was knocked out.
