Is the lower pulley held onto the harmonic balancer with 3 or 4
bolts? I don't have one handy to look and need to know in order to
purchase a remanufactured balancer.

Thanks,

Gary

On a Tiger ,the pulley is held on by 3 bolts as per common Ford smallblock
practice until about 1970 or so when Ford decided that 4 bolts was a better
idea for its 302.

Tony, and Gary,

The main reason for the change wasn't that pulley needed more bolts, it was
that the external counterweight for the engines were changed from about 28
ounces to about 50 ounces. This was to prevent using the wrong harmonic
balancer on the assembly.
