Here's goes another story: Actually this happened in front of my house
about a year ago. It was 2 or 3 am and I get a call from my neighbor. She
is in a frantic state and tells me to look out my window. So I go over to
the window, but before I even look out I see this yellow glow outside mixed
with red swirling police lights. It was eerie. And then I see that the
big pine tree in front of our property is burning, with flames shooting
straight up in the air at least a hundred feet, crackling and popping, it
was spooky. What a sight that was, I almost flashed back to the VN war.
Anyway I came to my senses and went outside only to see that a car had
careened off the road (hiway 1) and crashed into the base of the tree. It
was a brand new Saturn, the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel according
to police reports (It wasn't the wine bottles in the back seat) the Saturn
struck the tree and burst into flames. Luckily my neighbors husband was
awake, heard the impact, and pulled the guy out of the car before it was
completely engulfed in flames. The fuel pump continued to pump fuel and
the whole tree was ignited in flames. The car completely melted down to
nothing but a hulk. A few days later we found the license plate embedded
in the tree half melted. So the moral is electric fuel pumps will keep on
pumping fuel as long as the key is on, and don't ever buy a Saturn. Their
a rolling time bomb IMHO
A few days after the event we saw the same guy who crashed go by our house
and guess what he was driving another brand new Saturn. He went by slow
and was looking at the burned tree. Hmmm. I left the tree out there as a
momento for others to see, kind of like a sculpture.
