Bellhousing adapter plate

The National Parts Depot Mustang Catalog has an adapter plate for mating a
T-5 to a 5-bolt bellhousing. It apparently adds about about 1/, more or
less, to the total length from the bellhousing to the tailshaft. Has anyone
had any experience with this adapter in their Tiger?

Someone last week I think stated that the May issue of Hot Rod has
an article about mating a T-5 to any engine, adaptors and parts made by
McLeod Industries. The article shows a series of spacers, looks like 1/4"
to over 1". The article has a table that describes what parts are needed
by engine and type of transmission plus the year of the transmission is
important. I have not checked the web site but hopefully all that
information is there.

I have no experience with these parts or the parts you mentioned.

I have no direct experience with this adapter. But,.....
If you use it, the shifter will come up at 12 o'clock. You will need to cut
a hole in the tranny hump on top. Even if you have the AMC Spirit tailshaft
that puts the shifter in the stock location front to back, you will need to
open up a hole on top.
If you get a custom one made, you can rotate the trans over and the shifter
will come up thru the factory hole.

I have one of these adapter plates. I'm using it to mate a 5 bolt 289 to a
T-5 Cobra tranny. It is necessary to cut metal for the shifter, but the new
shifter position is much more comfortable and functional than the original
position. Doesn't look stock, but this commonly done. There is some
fabrication involved - you need a new rear transmission mount (very easy to
do), and the carpeting needs to be adapted. The existing speedo assembly
bolds right up, although you probably want to change the gear. I also used
the existing drive shaft without modification.
The AMC tailshaft sorta sounds great, except that they are very expensive
(more than $1K), and I have heard from several people that it is difficult
to keep the tranny fluid from leaking out of the speedo gear hole.
