If you have a 6 bolt transmission bell housing on your Tiger,
then all it takes is an engine hoist and common tools. You will want the
302 that had V belts; not the late model with the flat ribbed belt.
You may have to either use your old 260 crank pully, or if it has
different bolt patterns then cut off all but the last pully on the 302,
( assuming that the 302 lower pully is a 2 or 3 multiple pully for things
like power steering and airconditioning.); whatever clears the rack and
pinion. Pullys came with 3 or with 4 bolts. Motor mounts bolt right up.
The 260 ex. manifolds or headers should bolt right up.
The oil pan should clear as there is nothing
under a Tiger motor to interfere. Obviously you want a manual shift
302 or else spring for a pilot bearing, flywheel and clutch.
Be sure that you get a flywheel that is balanced to the 302.
Use the 302 starter for manual transmission.
Ford changed the balance part way through the 302 production.
Remember that the motor and transmission come out as a set.
Don't forget to reconnect the ground strap under the car when you
have the 302 installed.
