Ken Miles was reportedly able to produce his prototype so quickly and so inexpensively by using somewhat a "utilitarian" approach...

He stood on the scuttle and bashed in the firewall with a sledge until the engine would fit.

At least that's the rumor.

Hi Ken

I'm currently helping a customer restore a 1966 Tiger Mk1A.
It's a beautiful car and he's doing a fantastic restore on it.
I have to say though that the engineering on this car leaves
a lot to be desired. Carrol did a much better job with the
Mustang!!

They were British, they were sporty, they had some muscle under the hood, I guess that was enough to sell them in the 60s grinning smiley

I spoke to someone who worked at Jenson building the Tigers, all the bulkheads were reshaped Alpine bodies - using what he described as 'percussive engineering' . All the tigers were 'sledged' to get the engines in !
