Rob:
Do you have any suggested amount for donations, and is there any reason
why you have not forwarded to the Alpine lists?

Subject: Trademark Opposition and Filing
I have done a considerable amount of legwork on the subject now and I seem
to be the point man on this battle along with Rick @ SS.
Here is the latest:
1. Yes, most of the clubs and parts sellers have some claim to common law
use, however, that doesn't keep an attorney from filing cease and desist
letters or other claims.
2. Rick and I are going to file an official "opposition" to the trademark
request for both Sunbeam Tiger and Sunbeam Alpine
3. I have spoken with several attorneys, and several who specialize in
Trademark Law. We have come to the conclusion that we are going to secure
legal counsel in order to properly file the opposition and other
documents. We want to get this right the first time. I have had several
phone conversations with one Trademark specialist and we have had our first
meeting with him today.
4. I hated to have to ask this but we are going to need the financial
support of the entire Tiger Community in order to pay the legal fees. I
know that many of you volunteered and any donation will help.
You can send money to
STOA
893 Sycamore Road
Pleasanton Ca 94566
or paypal (email redacted)
please make a note it is for legal or trademark etc. We will keep records
of all donations in case there turns out to be any surplus.

Sent off a bank draft for $50US to STOA the other day. Please let us
know (on the Alpine list) how things are going and whether more funds
are needed. Have the various clubs been contacted for donations, (since
this is something one of us could do)?
