I just wanted to take a minute to announce an upcoming event. Sunbeamalpine.org will be sponsoring the "Sunbeam Invasion" in Dayton, Ohio the weekend of June 8th, 9th, 10th 2001.
The original intent was to keep this an Alpines only weekend, but we have decided that it just wouldn't be right to close the door on all the other Rootes autos. So, we are inviting all Tigers, Imps , Humbers, Commers, and any other Rootes makes to come join the fun.
We are planning a lot of events, including a rally and a pig roast. A full schedule of events will be posted on www.sunbeamalpine.org later this month, as well as a full list of great prizes. Featured at this event will be Steve Silverstein's 'F' Production Champion Series IV Alpine race car once driven by Don Sessler and the Sportscar Forum. With a little luck, we can get Bob Avery's Theodoli Sebring Harrington Alpine to show up as well, we hope!
I will make another announcement as soon as the details have been posted to the site. We will also provide a list of local hotels with reserved blocks of rooms for the event. Mark your calanders!! This will be the event not to miss. - Ian

Bite your tongue, Alpines only. I'll have to make a little trip to Ohio, I
see, just to crash the party! lol
Let's see, by then I should have my Commer here from the UK - if I drive
that, we'll have somewhere to sleep! The missus can drive the Humber saloon,
and if I can get another driver, maybe we'll bring the Minx convertible,
too! A Rootes invasion of the Sunbeam Invasion!

John...Bring it on!!! I'd love to see all those vehicles. If you want to sleep in the Commer that would be fine. I used to have one of those. I sold it to a guy locally who also has an Imp. I'll have to contact him and see if he can bring his too. That would be a rare sight! Sounds like this is going to turn out to be a great event! - Ian

>From the amount of interest I've been receiving about this event, I would be inclined to expect around 100 cars.
For those coming with families, there are many attractions of interest in the area. The US Air Force Museum, Kings Island, The Dayton Art Museum, and the Booncroft Museum of Discovery. Of course, we also have Tiger Auto Service.
The Event will be located about 20 minutes north of Dayton in Tipp City. Tipp City is an old historical lock town from the canal days. Today it is more an antique town with several shops and local hand made goods.
I'm still working on the promotional end of things, but plan to have everything ready to post by December 1st. I will be providing a location for parts vending and encourage swapping, haggeling, and selling of parts, cars and regalia. There will be no extra fee for parts vendors.
We are also going to have a Poker Rally and encourage everyone to participate. The design is intended to get everyone out driving their cars without too much of a technical twist. If everything works to plan there will be a lot of passing other Rootes cars and waving...stuff like that. The best three Poker Hands win trophies. (Cards will be drawn at check stops.)
More detailed info will be posted soon.
Thanks everyone for the support and positive feedback on this. I look forward to showing everyone a good time here in Dayton next June. - Ian

Just wish I could be there.... Then I could organise a Cricket match (with Tea interval), what could be more appropriate for LBC's....
Cheers
