I took the advice and removed the carbs on the S5 after the months of
poor running upon acceleration. When I removed the cover over the float
chamber, I discovered a floating piece of debris that looked like
shellac. I am thinking upon idle, this would not pose a problem, but
upon acceleration when the jet is requiring fuel, this could easily find
its way against the jet and prevent gas from flowing into the front
carb, where we think the problem originated. The size of the debris is
about the size of a pencil eraser end. Then as the fuel requirement
lessened, it would then float freely until the next demand. Sounds good,
but we wil not know for sure until reassembly. Brent
