Sorry this is off topic, but I thought that anyone smart enough to own
an Alpine or Tiger has probably had contact with Porsches in the past (:->winking smiley.

Can anyone advise the exact model of Solex carburetter that was used on
the very earliest 911s? I believe the 40PI 1 was used on later 911s, but
am not sure if this was the carb used on the earliest cars.

According to the Bruce Anderson book, the early 911 (911/01 to be exact) used
a Solex 40 PI carb, with the unusual overflow/return fuel pump set-up. They
soon
switched to Webers.
