The usual problem, for the home builder, in designing a garage hoist for
his Sunbeam Alpine, or Tiger hard top is locating a sheave block hoist
(multiple pulley) of suitable reliability and lift capacity for this job.
I have located a supplier to meet your needs. The web site for the data is:
midcosling.com/M12_Special_Products.pdf
Good luck with your home project.

Hi Steve,
I think the smaller unit on the left would be the best choice. That hoist on
the right just looks too big.

I think that this
(cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=724&item=5980486771&
rd=1) would be the ideal starting point. You'd get bonus marks for keeping
it all-British, plus you'd have something that would probably look as scary
as the Lucas electrical system actually is. Also like the electrical system,
it's based on early 20th century technology.

I would also suggest, that by far the strongest and most reliable block
hardware is made for the yachting set. Try either Harken or Schaefer
marine. Not inexpensive, but no worries of failure either.
